movie “The Cat and the Canary” from 1927, the drive-in classic,
“Noroi: The Curse” from 2005, discussion of the short film,

News Features
- It started as a short film in 2005, then a full-length movie in
2014, and now a series is going to debut the FX network March 27th,
2019. It’s the horrific comedy “What We Do In The Shadows”. A
mockumentary about a group of vampires who are roommates trying to
get by in the world. Each with different ages and different styles
they emulate, they deal with adventures, misadventures, and
everyday realities and drudgeries together while more or less
staying friends. We really thought the short and movie were a lot
of fun, and we’re looking forward to checking out the new
work.

- The genie has been let out of the bottle, and there’s no
stuffing him back in. In a recent Reuters article, Netflix
executives talk about their personal love of the interactive
science fiction horror feature “Bandersnatch” and the goals they
have for more such projects in the near future. There are already
some kid-friendly shows that are doing the same
choose-your-own-path stories. Why not romance for adults too? And
certainly more horror. While they say they can’t see it replacing
standard fare as the new normal, more projects will certainly be
coming in the future.

- If you want to celebrate the U.S Holiday with something in
addition to a cookout and fireworks, Stranger Things Season 3 is
coming to Netflix July 4, 2019. A brand new trailer shows that the
kids are older, new characters join the established ones, the town
is still strange, and the monsters are still monstrous. Check it
out and tell us what you think. We hope you’re as excited about it
as we are!

- Proving that it runs in the family, Joe Hill, (son of Stephen
King) has an anthology of his short stories coming out collectively
titled “Full Throttle”. The description says: “Featuring two
previously unpublished stories, and a brace of shocking chillers,
Full Throttle is a darkly imagined odyssey through the complexities
of the human psyche. Hypnotic and disquieting, it mines our
tormented secrets, hidden vulnerabilities, and basest fears, and
demonstrates this exceptional talent at his very best.” It’s a
teaser for now though, making us wait. It’s available for preorder
now in anticipation of the October 1, 2019

- Monsterpalooza 2019 is coming soon. Considered by many to be
the convention to attend, people will be coming from all over the
world to descend on The Pasadena Convention Center in southern
California April 12-14, 2019. The massive event will feature
hundreds of vendors, makeup demonstrations, a monster museum,
discussion panels, and guests the likes of Bruce Campbell, Jason
Patric, Linda Blair, and many others. It’s not too late to get your

really good 14 minute highlight film of the 2018 convention that we
have linked in our notes, and there’s a link to the Monsterpalooza
